Drake and John?

If you have kids, then you are probably familiar with the Nick Jr. show "Drake and Josh". It's a cute show that Sam and Lily just love! Now that Sam knows how to use the DVR on our cable box, we have every Drake and Josh recorded! (Not to mention, iCarly and SpongeBob.)
Well, John was in Rhode Island last week on business, and was having lunch at T.G.I.Fridays at the airport, when he looked over and saw DRAKE! Needless to say, he wasn't as excited as the pre-teen girls who saw him; but just the same, he went over and asked for autographs for Sam and Lily!

What an awesome dad! I tell ya, after he rode 100 miles on his bike and now has gotten the autographs for the kids, I think I need to take up juggling or arm wrestling just to keep up!

The Man!

John participated in The Georgia 400 Hospitality Highway Century Bike Ride. In layman's terms: John rode 100 miles on his bike around North Fulton County!!! Let me repeat...100 miles! And all of that in only 5 hours and 40 minutes! Yep, my hubby is a stud! And Sam's shirt says it all...

Ahhhh - land of the free and home of the brave...

May the sun in it's course visit no land more free, more happy, more lovely, than this our own country!

Summertime - How do I love thee?

Let me count the ways:

I love:

Waking to the rising sun,
eating fresh fruits of the season,
hearing the songs of the ice cream truck,
having flip-flop tan lines,
feeling the sun's "fingertips" on my face,
hearing a splash in the pool,
seeing the lightening bugs gradually appear as the sun is going down,
watching the flowers grow and reach out to the sky,
hearing the cicadas sing at night,
eating outside,
finding patches of sand as a reminder of the family beach trip,
watching the sun bleach my children's hair,
homemade ice cream,
smelling freshly mowed grass,
riding with the car windows down,
hearing the kids squeal as they play in the sprinkler (even though we have a pool!),
sipping on a tall glass of sweet tea,
celebrating the independence of our wonderful country,
quick peeks at hummingbirds and butterflies,
farmers markets,
family time,
and lazy, breezy afternoons.

My list could go on and on! Summertime is magical to me and I truly let the sun soak into my soul and pull me through the days and nights. Here are some of our summertime shots from the past couple of weeks....

And I'll leave you with a song that will definitely make you feel the warm fuzzies of Summer:

just click here: "Summertime"!

Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world. ~Ada Louise Huxtable

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.
~ John Lubbock

Sweet summertime~
