Once upon a snowy day...

Scratch that....SNOWY WEEK!

Yep, right here in Georgia, we were snowed out of school for a full week! Things were crazy! Not in the "Oh, those Southerners don't know how to handle themselves in the snow"... but, in the "Oh, the Southern state of Georgia has 8 snow plows for the 4+ Million people that live there!" Face it folks, we just don't get it around here very often, so when it comes, it's trouble! We weren't going anywhere!

We woke up Monday morning and looked out our kitchen window to see this...

It was a good 4-5 inches of snow!

I silently snuck out to take a few pictures before the kids invaded the smooth snow and peace. This is what I saw!

Then the fun began!

Yep, that's me!

And here's John...

Then we figured that the kids would want to play in the snow too, so we went in and got them bundled up! JUST KIDDING! They were right there next to us the whole time, in pure heaven!

">

The highlight for the kids was Snow Ice Cream!

I took a bowl of this:

Mixed it with this:
and the kids looked like this:

Several batches were made of this rare delicacy!

What a fun week of unscheduled free time! Now as day 4 or 5 crept around, the cabin fever settled in and I knew that the kids were ready to be back in a routine again. Grumpiness was in the air! (And the kids were a little fussy, too!) ;-)

Now they are back in the school schedule and we are a happy family once again!

Easy as 1-2-3

Santa, being the great guy that he is, knew that one of the top items on Lily's wish list was an Easy Bake Oven. So, lo and behold, on Christmas morning, look what was under the tree?!?!?

**Neither Santa nor myself, knew that Sam was looking forward to this gift as much (if not more than) Lily Clare.

So, after we reviewed the "owner's manual" and made a trip to the store to buy the odd 100 watt clear bulb. (I dare you to look around your house and tell me that you find one!) We were ready to begin!

Step 1 -- mix the mysterious packet with 2 - only 2 - teaspoons of water.

Step 2 - Put the pan in the oven and let the light bulb do it's thing, for 8 minutes. A looong eight minutes. So we wait....

Step 3 - Remove from oven and let cool.

Step 4 - Having a "4" kinda blows the connection with the title of this post, but of course....you must EAT!

And just like the box promised...they "baked up some fun with the Easy Bake Oven"!

Delicious~

To resolve......

Resolve: verb \ri-ˈzälv -- to make a firm decision about or to reach a conclusion.

Hmmmmmm.........can you hear me drumming my fingers on the table?

It's that time of year again and I've got nuttin' --no decisions, no conclusions. I'm just not really a resolution kinda girl. So, I've decided that I'm going into 2011 with an attitude of "better"! I want to be a better mother, a better wife, a better friend, better at organization, cooking, exercising -- you get the idea, right?

So throughout 2011, you will see posts documenting my path on bettering myself. I'm excited about this, really!

Now to recap our wonderful holidays! I'll first point out that I was unhappy with the short holiday season. I felt like I had just decorated when the time came to pack it all away again. But we managed to pack lots of fun, family and love into the season and that's all that matters!

We hosted a party and as always, not many pictures. I kinda get carried away with the fun of it all. But here's the staple group pic of all of the lovely ladies... (Yes, I'm sportin' some Mrs. Clause style stockings...I ain't skeered!)

And we had a neat little "hot-potato style" ornament exchange for the kids. They had a blast!

My treat for my friends was a cream cheese pound cake with some homemade cinnamon honey butter. It was so yummy, if I do say so myself. I finished them off with a pretty little spreader.

My precious little family before we set off to the Christmas Eve service.

Lily Clare's catch on Christmas morning.

Sam's collection.

Some Christmas morning love....

And one of the best parts of Christmas Day! SNOW!

We went to the Nights of Magical Lights at Lake Lanier. By far, Sponge Bob was the kids favorite!

At the end of the drive, a carnival awaited us...

complete with hot chocolate!

We spent New Year's weekend on Lookout Mountain and enjoyed some hiking,

some beautiful views,

and some family love at midnight!

Ready to be better~
